Hallsville resident Eddie Davenport took this beautiful 8 point with his bow on the last weekend of bowseason while hunting at JB Bowhunting Ranch.

Opening morning Nov. 4 2006, Lane and I got into the stand about 5:45 am. We got the chairs moved around and everything in place and sat for a few minutes then started on breakfast (orange juice, oreo’s and a bag of suckers). Of course Lane chose a sucker and Red one to be exact. I got Lane all taken care of when I took a looked down toward the feeder, there he was a 8 point. It took him 20 – 30 mins. to make it to the feeder and it took me that long to make sure he was 13 “ wide or wider. Lane was being very quite and still watching him move and circle the feeder. The 8 point finally made it under the feeder and ate for a few mins. and then he looked right at the box stand 150 yards away. I could tell he was a shooter. We got ready for the shot and I took it. One shot and he fell right under the feeder. Lane was thrilled and he keeps asking me to take him hunting now. I have a new hunting partner now. The deer was 14 ½ “ inside spread and weighed 140 lbs and shot in Harrison county. Lane is 5 years old and I used a Ruger 25-06.
